Classic Car Restoration in Kent

Owning a classic is a privilege; restoring it is an art. At Kent Customs we treat every project as a piece of rolling history, whether it is a pre‑war Austin, a sixties E‑type or an eighties hot hatch. Our award‑winning team rebuilds each car from the ground up, preserving originality and period charm while discreetly enhancing reliability for modern roads.

Why choose Kent Customs?

  • Purpose‑built 12,000 sq ft workshop in Gillingham, Kent.
  • In‑house metalwork, paint, mechanical, trim and electrics – no outsourcing, full control.
  • Clear written project plans, weekly progress photos, cloud‑based tracker for every client.
  • IMI‑accredited technicians and fully insured, climate‑controlled storage.

Our restoration process

  1. Initial assessment & goal setting – We agree the desired finish, originality level and budget before a single bolt is removed.
  2. Complete strip‑down – Every component is catalogued, cleaned and either refurbished or replaced.
  3. Rust repair & metal fabrication – New panels are handmade or reverse‑engineered where required.
  4. Paint & body – Bare‑metal respray in our downdraught booth, followed by 200 hours of flatting and polishing.
  5. Mechanical rebuild – Engine, gearbox and drivetrain rebuilt to factory specs or subtly uprated.
  6. Interior & trim – Original materials re‑connolised or sympathetic replacements sourced.
  7. Road testing & sign‑off – 500 shake‑down miles plus final detailing before handover.

Recent case study

A 1967 Jaguar E‑type 4.2 FHC arrived as a stalled barn‑find. Twelve months later it collected a Judges’ Trophy at the Salon Privé Concours. View the full gallery and owner testimonial in our Project Showcase.
